Internship Program

Our stations host an ongoing radio internship program throughout the year with students from University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND; Mayville State University, Mayville, ND; Northland Community and Technical College, East Grand Forks, MN.  We accept up to five interns each semester to work in various departments for job experience and college credit. 

During this reporting period, we hosted a total of five interns, as follows:

Spring Semester 2009: Two students from University of North Dakota

Summer 2009: One student from University of North Dakota

Fall 2009:  Two students from University of North Dakota

Host event/program sponsored by or on behalf of an educational institution relating to careers in broadcasting

Throughout the reporting period, we hosted area high school students to job shadow our staff.  The students work with an assigned staff member for one full day.  Job shadows can choose from on air, office or sales shadow opportunities.   The job shadow will be involved in any and all aspects of their mentors job for that day.

We average two students per month in this program from the following high schools: Red River High School, Grand Forks, ND; Central High School, Grand Forks, ND; Senior High School, East Grand Forks, MN; Cavalier Public School, Cavalier, ND; Grafton High School, Grafton, ND; Fisher High School, Fisher, ND; Lakota High School, Lakota, ND; Larimore High School, Larimore, ND; Pembina High School, Pembina, ND.

Host event/program sponsored by or on behalf of an educational institution relating to careers in broadcasting

Throughout this reporting period, our stations hosted groups of 10 to 15 students each month for our Kids Say No to Drugs Program.  This program gives students an opportunity to record and be a part of an ongoing  public service feature while giving them a taste of the industry.  These PSA’s air throughout the school year (October through May), in rotation .

Schools involved include Red River High School, Grand Forks, ND; Central High School, Grand Forks, ND; Senior High School, East Grand Forks, MN;  Sacred Heart High School East Grand Forks, Cavalier Public School, Cavalier, ND; Grafton High School, Grafton, ND; Fisher High School, Fisher, ND; Lakota High School, Lakota, ND; Larimore High School, Larimore, ND; Pembina High School, Pembina, ND., Kittson County High School, Hallock, MN,  Central Valley High School, Buxton, MN, Badger Greenbush High School, Greenbush, MN, Marshall County High School, Newfolden, MN,  Finley Sharon High School, Finley, ND,   Midway High School, Minto, MN,  Hatton Northwood High  School, Hatton, ND    Mahnomen High School, Mahnomen, ND,  Tri County High School, Karlstad, MN , Stephen Argyle High School, Stephen, MN, Warren Alvarado Oslo High School, Warren, MN  Crookston High School Crookston, MN.
